5 Habits That Are Ruining Your Eyes

There is nothing more valuable than having your eyes working perfectly. Many of us women do not know the value of being able to visualize things perfectly – just the way they are – and just because we see them perfectly, we do not feel the need to take caution.

In the end, when things start to get bad, we try to manage the situation with countermeasures when we could have changed the bad behaviours damaging our sight in the first place. Are your eyes feeling itchy? Do you wake up waiting a while before you start to see clearly? You might be engaging in bad habits damaging your sight. Here are some of the habits ruining your eyes.

Staring your phone for so long

If you check the phones of most of the ladies today, the fonts are small and stylish. These small and stylish fonts are difficult to see easily, which is why these ladies have to take a lot of time staring at them every day. This leads to dizziness, nausea, dry eyes and, of course, blurred vision, which could have been avoided in the first place.

Solution

Try to lay down your phone every 20 minutes to give your eyes a much-needed break your eyes deserve. If you have smaller designer fonts, try changing them to much bigger ones for the sake of your eyes.

Watching TV at Night

Do you love watching TV shows and movies before you go to bed? Well, it’s damaging your eyes because it strains your vision. Watching TV in the dark puts your eyes in a position where your eyes have to contend with different variations of light, which messes with your vision, not to talk about your level of productivity the next day.

Solution

If you have a late-night movie to watch, avoid watching them in the dark – you don’t need to try to emulate the Silverbird cinema experience at the expense of your eyes.

Sleeping in Contact Lens

Going out to work, getting a lot of things done, and facing heavy traffic on the way back home can be stressful, but it is no excuse not to get your contact lens off. When you leave your lens on as you go to bed, you leave yourself open to infections which can damage your sight completely.

Solution

Make it a habit to wash your hands when you get home and immediately remove your lens before you get too tired to remember.

Rubbing your Eyes

If you are in the habit of rubbing your eyes whenever you feel the urge to do so, you are damaging the blood vessels beneath your eyes, making it difficult for you to see properly.

Solution

If your eyes feel itchy, the best thing you can do is give your eyes a cold compress. This soothes the irritated part of your eyes, improving your vision.

Excessive usage of eye drops

We use eye drops to reduce dryness in our eyes, but they can also be a source of irritation. Eye drops help reduce the redness of the eyes, but when used excessively, they can lead to irritation, damaging the eyes in the long run.

Solution

If your doctor prescribes eye drops, then you need to use them as prescribed by your doctor. Using it more than prescribed can do more harm than good.

Bottom Line

Being able to see is one of the greatest gifts you can ever have as a woman and as a human. You should not take this gift for granted till it gets complicated. If you are engaged in any of these activities, refrain from doing them and keep your eyes healthy.
