Dr. Noah Kekere sold my wife’s kidney for N6m, offers N20m compensation five years after -Businessman

A Jos-based businessman, Busari Kamaru, says the proprietor of Murna Clinic and Hospital, Dr. Noah Kekere, practically confessed to selling his patient’s kidney for N6m and now offers N20m compensation for the alleged crime.

Kamaru said the offer was brokered by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) as the doctor at the centre of the organ trafficking allegation allegedly offered him N20m in private compensation for the missing kidney of his wife.

The resident of Rikos community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State said he turned down the offer immediately.

Kamaru’s wife and mother-of-four had complained of severe abdominal pain and stomach ache sometime in January 2018, and she was taken to the Murna Clinic and Hospital owned and operated by Dr. Noah Kekere. The woman was diagnosed of appendicitis, for which she was operated on after initial refusal by the husband.

The surgical intervention reportedly lasted a whopping eight hours, whereas doctors say a routine appendectomy takes about one hour, while most patients leave the hospital one to two days after surgery and they’ll be able to go back to all their normal activities within two to four weeks.

Kamaru narrates the attempted bribery: “I went to the DPO of Nasarawa Gwom community to complain. His name is Timothy. The DPO called me the following morning that he wanted to see me personally. On getting there, the man told me that since yesterday till this morning, some people had been calling him for negotiation. But he did not know what to tell them because they are offering him a certain amount of money.

“He asked me what my position on the matter was because they calculated the time they removed my wife’s kidney, they said it was sold at a N6 million then. But now, it is worth N20 million. They said if they want to pay the money for the kidney, it will be N20 million.

“I said ‘Look, officer, I am not the type of person anyone can buy with money. Let this man come out and own up to me that he removed my wife’s kidney. What do you want me to do?’

“But the man (Dr. Noah Kekere) started begging me, saying that the deed had been done and that I should just temper justice with mercy. He asked what I wanted him to do for me. I told him that I didn’t need anything from him except to return my wife’s kidney from wherever he took it to.

“The DPO asked him if he will take my wife abroad to replace her kidney, but he couldn’t say any word. He started saying ‘Jesus Christ.’ So, he was taken to the guard room and detained.”
