Gospel musician Aduke Gold passes on

A gospel musician, Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold, has passed away. The incident reportedly happened on Monday, August 12, 2024.

Her colleague, Esther Igbeke, broke the news on Instagram. The development has thrown the Nigerian gospel music industry into mourning.

According to a source who was close to the deceased, Aduke Gold was ill for two months.

The source added that the gospel singer died on Monday, August 12, at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State.

Esther posted a tribute with Aduke Gold’s picture and the caption: “A general has fallen. RIP.” The circumstances surrounding her death were not revealed.

Aduke Gold had made a significant impact in the gospel music industry with her soul-lifting songs. Her breakthrough single, Nitori Ogo (translated as, ‘Because of Glory’), went viral on social media.

Aduke Gold’s death comes barely barely four months after the death of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on April 28, 2024.
