Our body is like a temple, a building that we can use at our discretion without being questioned. I know this should be an article on health which it is, but we need to take things from the physical as well as the psychological.

Clocking thirty is symbolic for a lot of us women in Nigeria; in fact, a lot of us women cry at this point of our lives, but here’s the thing, your health choices before the age of thirty will determine how you enjoy the rest of your years.

Are you younger than 30? Here are some of the health choices you need to make a habit of before thirty. Are you older than 30? You can start today; better late than never. Let’s take a look at some of these choices:

1. Finding an exercise routine, you enjoy

Are you in the “exercise is too hard geng?” Do you know that if you have not been exercising before thirty, the chances of getting an exercise routine that you enjoy afterwards is slim? In fact, you’ll simply dislike exercising altogether, and this is the highway to losing touch with a healthy body.

2. Learn how to cook healthy dishes

Do you know how to cook? I mean, do you know how to cook healthy dishes? If you do not know how to cook healthy recipes, you will be eating many unhealthy meals like suya, carbonated drinks, and all sorts of processed foods. Take time to learn some healthy meals, and this will keep you healthy now and after you’re over thirty.

3. Regularly check your health

If you feel like checking your health is expensive, the cost of managing your health is far more expensive than that. The female body is complicated, and having regular health checkups is one of the best ways to catch many life-complicating diseases and sicknesses right when they can be stopped. Many of us feel like we can escape these things, but only a few do this and come out without any health complications. Get a doctor, schedule regular health checks and enjoy life before and after thirty.

4. Practice safe sex

Having sex at the prime of your youth as a woman can be an exciting feeling. However, this so-called enjoyment is not enough for you to jeopardize your health completely. Many STDs can make life a lot more complicated than it is right now. STDs like herpes (HSV), hepatitis B (HBV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and human papillomavirus (HPV) have no cure and contacting such diseases means that you will have to manage them for life. This changes everything for you, and a simple life before thirty and after becomes more complicated than you could ever imagine.

5. Love your body

The only people who can reach the body type they want are those who love the body they have. A lot of us women find it easy to body shame ourselves because we do not look the way we want. No matter your expectations, the first thing you need to do is love your body. This makes you feel confident and will carry you on till when you’re older than thirty.
