Popular Nigerian video jockey and television presenter, Laura Abebe, widely recognized as Moet Abebe, has shared her reason for staying single.
She spoke during an episode of the podcast ‘Bahd and Boujee’, which she co-hosts with reality TV star Tolani Baj, with Nollywolly actor, Etim Effiong, as a guest.
Moet emphasized her choice to remain single, attributing it to her belief that ‘most men do not have sense.’
She however, stressed the need for men to be more thoughtful in relationships.
Effiong who had known Moet since he was single six years ago, during the podcast, questioned her single status, to which she responded,
“You already know my reservations. I am tired of saying this every episode. Your gender needs to do more. My issue with men is that they do not have sense.
“How about men stop dipping their fingers in so many pots?”
Despite her openness to a relationship, Moet emphasized the lack of appealing options.
“I am choosing to be single, but even if I wanted to be in a relationship, the options are not so great,” she said.
Earlier in 2021, she expressed her indifference about marriage, referring to it as a ‘fraud’; saying, women only venture into marriage because of societal pressure.
In June 2023, she opened up about her past ‘abusive’ relationship, which, she said, lasted approximately two and a half years.
Also, in October this year, the video jockey revealed her reluctance to date men residing on the Lagos mainland.
She said, “I cannot date men who live on the mainland in Lagos. I feel like, if I call you at 11pm, you will probably give me some story like, it is too late, there are police on the street, I cannot come.”
