NAFDAC warns against using Deekins Amoxycillin 500mg capsules

The Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, says it wishes to alert all healthcare providers and the public about the recall of Deekins Amoxycillin 500mg capsules, Batch 4C639001.

This is contained in a statement by Halimat Ajibola Adedeji, for the Pharmacovigilance Unit,
Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board.

Adedeji stated that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued the recall due to concerns over quality and safety. It is imperative that all primary healthcare centers, pharmacies, and stakeholders adhere to this directive and immediately remove the affected batch from their inventory.

She directed that key actions required include;

1. *Immediate Cessation of Dispensing*: For anyone that have this batch on their shelves, kindly stop dispensing *Deekins Amoxycillin 500mg Capsules* from the recalled batch.

2. *Traceability of Sources*: Reinforce the practice of purchasing medicines only from credible, traceable sources such as the *Lagos State Medical Stores (LSMS), Oshodi*. This ensures quality assurance and minimizes the risk of substandard or falsified medicines infiltrating the supply chain.

3. *Reporting Adverse Reactions*: Promptly report any adverse drug reactions or suspected quality issues to NAFDAC through *established pharmacovigilance channels*:
a. MedSafety App (download on play store),

b. NAFDAC electronic reporting channel https://primaryreporting.who-umc.org/Reporting/Reporter?OrganizationID=NG, or

c. Use of yellow form to be scanned and send to the email address [email protected].
