Zainab Abidoye, a Nigerian lady who made headlines after her ex-boyfriend sent her a video of his wedding with another woman, has finally opened up about why she turned down his marriage proposal.
Zainab, who shared her story on her X [formerly Twitter] handle @Abidoye_Zainab, said she was not expecting her tweet to go viral, but she decided to clear the air for those who were curious.
She revealed that she rejected him for three reasons: he was 30 years older than her, he wanted her to be his second wife, and he was toxic.
“I have always vowed not to be a second wife to anyone. I deserve to be the only one, not an option.
“He was also very controlling and abusive. He would always make me feel guilty for not agreeing to marry him.
“He had a lot of money, which he used to spoil me, but money is not everything. What if he loses his money tomorrow? Will he still love me?” she said.
Zainab said she was shocked and hurt when he sent her a video of his wedding, which he claimed was to make her jealous. She said she felt betrayed and disrespected by his actions.
She also said she was not bothered by the negative comments she received from some people on X, who accused her of dating a married man.
“I don’t care what they say. They don’t know the whole story. They don’t know what I went through with him.
“He lied to me about his marital status when we met. He said he was divorced, but I later found out he was still married. He was playing with my emotions.
“I’m glad I dodged a bullet. I wish him and his new wife all the best,” she said.
