107th edition of Women Economic Forum holds in Lagos

West Africa is set to host the 107th edition of the Women Economic Forum (WEF), a global platform for women’s empowerment and business growth.

President, WEF, Dr. Alex Okoroji, said the groundbreaking event will connect influential women leaders to enable them share experiences while they advocate for fellow women’s economic growth, among others.

She disclosed that the three-day conference will hold at the Lagos Oriental Hotel from December 13 to 15 and will be preceded by the G100 West Africa meeting from December 11 to 12 at the Consulate General of India, also in Lagos.

She also noted that the event will feature an impressive lineup of over 250 speakers in 18 VIP Plenary Session and Fireside Chats, with the intent to address pressing issues concerning women in business, society and various industries.

She said leaders from different countries will also engage in discussions as they share their insights on empowering women and advocating for gender equality, promote women’s visibility, recognition and networking for expanding their business horizons; while also serving as a collaboration between All Ladies League (ALL), Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI), and G100, with global chapters and partnerships.

The WEF, West Africa 2023 edition will also combine in-person and digital sessions to encourage leadership and growth among women with special features such as WICCI Entrepreneurs Gala to honour 100 women, and the WEF Award Gala to recognize 107 women for their contributions and impact.

Okoroji also said the conference agenda spans a wide range of topic including leadership and management, education, health and wellness, arts, media, entertainment, politics, diplomacy, security, Science Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM), and several others, all with the aim to create synergies across various sectors, inspire innovative practices and contribute to the economic and social development of women.

While emphasizing the importance of collaboration, she expressed gratitude to sponsors for their support and urged the media to help spread the word, noting that the WEF had a rich history with previous editions held in other countries across the globe.

“This 107th edition promises to be a groundbreaking moment for women’s empowerment and business growth in West Africa and beyond,” Okoroji promises.
