A 13-year-old accused of defiling a two-year-old girl has been remanded at Oregun. The 13-year-old boy (name withheld) was placed under detention at the boys’ correctional institution by an Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.
The teenager was accused before the court on a case of defilement preferred against him by the police.
Inspector John Iberedem, the prosecution, said the court that the adolescent allegedly committed the crime at Ayodele Musa Street, Unity Estate, Egbeda, Lagos, on September 23, 2024, at 8:25 p.m.
Iberedem claims that the offense violated Section 210(8) of the 2015 Lagos Child’s Rights Laws.
The defendant, however, entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
Magistrate Kubeinje ordered the adolescent to be remanded in the Oregun Boys Correctional Center after he entered a not-guilty plea.
After rejecting the defendant’s bail request, the magistrate directed that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions’ office for legal counsel.
She adjourned the case until December 19, 2024, for mention.
