14-year-old student shoots 4 dead in American school

Two students and two teachers were killed in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Barrow County, Georgia, USA, the director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a tweet.

Director Chris Hosey also noted that nine others were hospitalized with injuries sustained in the shooting.

The suspected shooter was identified as 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at the high school; while the victims are identified as:

  • Mason Schermerhorn, age 14 (Student)
  • Christian Angulo, age 14 (Student)
  • Richard Aspenwall, age 39 (Teacher)
  • Christina Irimie, age 53 (Teacher)

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, via its verified X handle @GBI_GA, says it has responded to the shooting. “We have agents on site assisting local, state, & federal law enforcement w/ the investigation. One suspect in custody. We urge anyone near the area to stay clear while authorities investigate.

The Bureau says there is no evidence of a list of schools being targeted; however, there is a lot of evidence that is being recovered and evaluated. Investigators are diligently reviewing leads to determine if there are any active threats.

It added, “There was a call to another local high school this morning with a reported threat. Police responded, investigated, and determined there was no threat. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that there were additional shooters. Investigators are actively pursuing all leads regarding any potential associates of the shooter.”
