A 25-year-old man identified as Elisha has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for alleged murder of his girlfriend.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a residence located close to Beulah International Nursery and Primary Schools along Atiku Abubakar Way, PUNCH Online has reported.
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, told pressmen, “The lady was his girlfriend and a nurse. Yesterday morning, she came to the house, and a few minutes later, we heard noise from the room.
“It was obvious they were fighting, but no one knew the cause of the fight. When the struggle continued, an older woman living in the compound went to knock on the door and told the suspect to stop the fight, but he refused. We had to inform the father, who lives elsewhere.
“Unfortunately, by the time the man and others gained entrance to the house, he had already killed his girlfriend and dismembered her body. He then hid inside the ceiling of his room. We had to call the police to arrest him.”
Confirming the incident, ASP Timfon John, said, “The suspect is in custody, and the police is investigating the alleged murder.
“We expect to uncover more information and reveal the details of the case in the next few days.”
