Abuja Police Special Squad eliminates kidnap gang leader ‘Godara’ and accomplice

The Federal Capital Territory Police Special Intervention Squad has successfully neutralized three notorious bandits, including the infamous gang leader known as Mai Gemu, aka, “Godara” in a major breakthrough.

During the operation which occurred in the early hours of yesterday, Friday, around 2.00am within a forested area linking Abuja to Kaduna State, the Police Squad noted that it was the spot where Godara and his gang had been causing havoc in the FCT and neighbouring states.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this accomplishment during a press conference in Abuja, where he also presented approximately 20 criminal suspects apprehended for various offenses across the country.

Adejobi highlighted the importance of the operation, stated: “We’ve recorded another significant stride towards fortifying the security landscape in the FCT following the recent launch of the Special Intervention Squad under the command of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun.”

The encounter unfolded during a fierce exchange of gunfire between the police special squad and the bandits within a forest area connecting Abuja to Kaduna State.

Commissioner of Police, and FCT SIS Commander, Bennet Igwe, confirmed the success of the operation.

He notes that the elimination of Godara and his accomplices marks a critical development in the ongoing efforts to curb insecurity in the FCT where recent incidents, including the abduction of 23 individuals in the Bwari Area Council, have added urgency to the security measures implemented by law enforcement agencies in the capital city.
