A 33-year-old man identified as Ibrahim Abubakar has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife, Hajara Sa’adu.
This was disclosed by the State’s Command Spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya, in a press release.
According to Yahaya, the suspect is a resident of Sabon Gari-Futy in Girei Local Government Area and works as a butcher.
He reportedly had a misunderstanding with his wife and during the quarrel, the wife allegedly seized his phone. In a fit of anger, the suspect stabbed her in the back with a knife.
“The suspect stabbed his 25-year-old wife, Hajara Sa’adu, several times with a sharp knife and left her to die in a pool of blood.
“This incident happened on the 8th of April, 2024 at about 04:30 am, after he accused her of taking away his phone, which led to a little argument.
“The suspect was arrested after a report was made by the father of the deceased. He voluntarily made a confessional statement and added that he regretted killing his wife,” Suleiman stated.
In response, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, expressed his disappointment over the incident.
He also said that investigations are still ongoing and if the suspect is found guilty, he would be punished according to the law.
