Nigeria is set to embark on a comprehensive revitalization of her steel sector.
This was disclosed with the federal government announcing a ten-year national roadmap for overall steel development and a three-year plan specifically targeting the Ajaokuta Steel Complex.
Shuaibu Audu, the Minister of Steel Development, shared this strategic vision during an interactive parley with journalists in Abuja, highlighting the federal government’s commitment to the sector’s growth and emphasized that the national plans aligns with the current administration’s renewed hope schema targeted at transforming the nation’s economy.
Audu also underscored President Tinubu’s dedication to the steel sector’s revival, noting that the Ministry of Steel Development was established in August of the previous year for this specific purpose.
In pursuit of these objectives, the Minister said there have been engagements with development partners to explore the optimal strategies for the Ajaokuta Steel Industry and the broader National Steel Industry.
He also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s abundant mineral resources, citing them as the catalysts for reshaping the country’s economic landscape and extending the benefits of democracy to every citizen.
Highlighting the nation’s readiness to assume a prominent role in the global steel market, Audu unveiled the ambitious ten-year roadmap, signaling a transformative phase for the Nigerian steel sector.
Similarly, Mrs. Mary Ogbe, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, echoed optimism about the country’s potential to develop the steel sector, emphasizing that Nigeria possessed all the necessary resources for this ambitious undertaking.
