Bandits invade Kaduna community, kill 6, abduct ex-CBN director

Suspected bandits reportedly invaded Kwassam and Sabon Layi Kan Makama communities in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday and allegedly killed over six people before abducting Zakariya Markus, a retired CBN director, and others.

The Administrator of the Kaduna Capital Territory Authority (KCTA), Samuel Aruwan, on behalf of the Kaduna State government, confirmed the incident, but the number of people killed and kidnapped in Kauru LGA was not mentioned.

The report released by the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union says no fewer than 50 people were kidnapped during the attack, and many others were injured.

During an on-the-spot assessment of the community, the governor of the state, who spoke through Aruwan, condemned the attack and condoled the grieving families. He also promised that aggressive military operations will commence across the state.

According to sources, the bandits, upon entering the community, allegedly shot into the air at random before going to the residence of the retired CBN director, where he was abducted along with some of his family members.
