Birthday celebrant, musician, others arrested for noise pollution, traffic obstruction

The Lagos State Government says it has arrested a birthday celebrant, a musician, and a vendor for disrupting traffic flow and causing environmental disturbances during a birthday celebration.

The arrested individuals are:

Omolara Ajetumobi – Event Planner
Ogundare Olubunmi – Celebrant
Ayodele Busuyi – Musician
Owoeye Adedayo – Sound Engineer
Akinola Akinkunmi – Vendor

The commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this known on Monday via his X account. He stated that the arrests were made on Saturday for obstructing Raymond Njoku Road in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Wahab added that the suspects would face charges in court, in line with the state’s legal provisions, stressing that Lagos State will not tolerate violations of its regulations.

He wrote:

“On Saturday, 19th October 2024, the Lagos State Government arrested several individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician, and others, for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during a birthday party and creating a nuisance.

“They will be prosecuted in accordance with state laws. The Lagos State Government reiterates that no one is above the law, and disregard for state regulations will not be condoned.”
