A 20 year-old admission seeker, Miss Temitope Elemide, has been allegedly raped and killed in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Spokesman, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday in Abeokuta.
It was gathered that the victim was killed at the family residence at Bosero community, Olodo, in Odeda council area.
Sources said the incident occurred on Sunday when men of the underworld stormed the residence, raped the girl and smashed her head.
It was also revealed that the suspects took advantage of her being the only one at home to carry out the heinous act.
Elemide was preparing for the next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) before the incident.
Odutola described the incident as a murder case which was reported to the police on Sunday.
The police spokesperson explained that one Jamiu Salihu, 29, the boyfriend, had been arrested in connection with the murder.
“There was a suspected murder report on February 25, from Odeda that they met a lifeless body of Elemide inside the room, stabbed with knife on her head and body.
“There is one Jamiu Salihu, 29 years, boyfriend, who is suspected to have committed the heinous crime. He was seen coming out from the bush on the said day of the crime,” the PPRO said.
Odutola said one knife, two iron rods, and an Android techno phone were recovered as exhibits.
She added that the body of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue.
