But for God, naira would’ve crashed to N10,000/dollar -Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has said divine intervention prevented the Naira from crashing to all low against the US dollar

Speaking at the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye pointed out that without God’s help, the exchange rate could have soared to N10,000 per dollar.

He explained that Nigeria’s financial struggles are linked to its dependence on fuel imports, despite the country’s vast oil resources. Despite spending billions on refineries, many remain non-functional, leading to continued reliance on imported petrol.

Adeboye also highlighted the controversy surrounding the government’s decision to end costly fuel subsidies, which angered some who profited from the old system and created additional economic challenges.

“We need help, and it’s not human help, it’s divine help,

“Before our president came in, we knew the root of our financial issues was the importation of petrol. We have oil, yet we kept importing petrol and wasting billions on refineries that didn’t work. When the president cancelled the subsidy on petrol imports, people who profited from it got upset and created more problems.

“As the Naira continued to decline rapidly, I prayed, and thank God others joined in. If God hadn’t intervened, $1 could have been worth N10,000 by now. This shows how much we need prayers.”

Adeboye emphasized that his message had nothing to do with politics, stating, “I’m not a politician, nor will I ever be one. That’s not my calling.”
