CAN seeks recruitment of CRK teachers in Katsina

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Katsina State chapter on Wednesday called on the state government to recruit Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) teachers to imbibe morals in students in the state

The State CAN Secretary, Dr Musa Daniel-Danladi, made the call in Katsina on Wednesday, at a thanksgiving event to mark the 2024 Independence Day celebration.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the CAN secretary was speaking at the event on behalf of the Chairman, Rev. Fr. Richard Shuaibu-Liti.

He said the call was imperative to enhance teaching and instill sound morals in public schools, especially in the southern part of the state.

According to him, in the southern part of the state, there is an appreciable number of indigenous Christians.

Daniel-Danladi also appealed to Gov. Dikko Radda to appoint an indigenous Christian as a Special Assistant (SA) for Christian and Women Affairs.

“This has been the practice of the previous All Progressives Congress (APC) administrations in the state,” he said.

The secretary also stated that CAN was displeased with the categorisation of the Church, alongside hotels and brothels in the land purchase documents used across the state.

According to Daniel-Danladi, the Church is a place of worship and should not be misplaced in such an absurd category.

He, however, called on Christians to continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of the state and Nigeria as a whole. (NAN)(
