The police has arrested one pastor Alex Itedjere for allegedly murdering a young girl at the Agbarha-Otor community in Delta State in the early hours of Friday.
According to report, the remains of the victim were discovered in the pastor’s house while sources said that the cleric snuffed life out of the young girl with a machete.
While reason for killing her is not yet known, aggrieved youths in the community stormed the pastor’s house to avenge her death.
A source said the angry youths were at the verge of lynching the suspect in retaliation when the security operatives intervened.
Reacting to the incident, a human rights activist, Israel Joe, demanded justice for the deceased as he called on the State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass to, as a matter of urgency, investigate the incident and prosecute the accused person in accordance with the law.
A senior security source from the command said the suspect has been arrested.
