Dangote refinery shifts petrol production to July

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said due to a minor delay, petrol supply from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery would commence in July.

Dangote spoke during the inauguration of the Dangote Sinotruk West Africa’s completely knocked-down (CKD) plant in Lagos on June 9.

On May 18, Dangote said from this month, the refinery would begin producing petrol, adding that Nigeria would not have to import the product again.

Providing updates, Dangote said the refiner should begin supplying petrol to the downstream market by July 15.

“We had a bit of delay, but PMS will start coming out by 10 to 15 of July. But then we want to keep it in the tank to make sure that it settles,” he said.

“So by the third week of July, we’ll be able to come out to take it into the market.”

On June 3, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest person, said some international oil companies (IOCs) are struggling to supply crude to his refinery.
