Dark sides of s3x-enhancing drugs

The pursuit of enhanced sexual performance and pleasure has given rise to a growing market for sex-enhancing drugs, which are often marketed as ‘miracle solutions’ to various sexual challenges.

Sexual enhancers according to the Human Enhancement Drugs Network are drugs which enhance (normal/abnormal) erectile function; and aphrodisiacs which increase sexual arousal and desire.

They have been a part of human culture and folklore for centuries and are often associated with the idea of spicing up one’s love life by using foods, drinks, or other things that stimulate sexual desire.

the promise of heightened sexual experiences may be alluring, but the use of aphrodisiacs comes with a plethora of hidden dangers

While the promise of heightened experiences may be alluring, the use of these drugs comes with a plethora of hidden dangers that many individuals may not fully appreciate, as they can send the user or partner to the great beyond, as was the case of a young woman who reportedly died during sex romp with her boyfriend in Ilorin, Kwara State, earlier in the week.

The incident, according to report, occurred at a guest house situated in Temidire community, Offa Garage area of Ilorin on Monday, October 30.

As reported by the Nigerian Tribune, members of the community claimed that the man, who owns a barber’s shop, was under the influence of drugs with the aim of impressing his girlfriend.

A source explained that the lady got tired during the mating and that the man raised the alarm when he noticed that the lady had become unconscious, a situation that attracted the attention of workers of the guest house.

Experts view on use of sex-enhancing drugs
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) had warned Nigerians against the use of sexual enhancement drugs, saying the excessive use of drugs in this category may lead to stroke or sudden death.

Commenting on buying unauthorized sexual enhancement product, the Government of Canada stated that there is no guarantee that it contains what it says it does, nor is there a guarantee that its ingredients are safe.

It noted that the products are often labelled as ‘all natural’ and ‘safe’, but in many cases prescription drugs are added. It further added that the drugs may also contain cheap ingredients added as ‘fillers’.

“These products may interact with other health products and foods that you are taking. They may also be made under unsanitary conditions and could be contaminated,” Canada government warns.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had also notified consumers of certain products promoted for sexual enhancement and energy, which have been found to contain hidden ingredients and may pose a significant health risk.

According to him, use of sex enhancement drugs could cause cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, heart failure and other related diseases.

“If anyone has potency problem, it is advisable for such person to seek medical attention, rather than using enhancement drugs because it has many underlying side effects which may result to complete loss of life,” Dr. Ademola said.

He advised people suffering from potency problem to avoid self-medication or use of sex enhancement drugs but to seek medical attention for proper diagnosis and treatment.
