Honesty pays, as they say; and Kekwaaru Ngozi Mary became a living reference for the saying as Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, redeemed his pledge to her for her rare act of honesty.
Kekwaaru had the internet buzzing on Monday when the story of how she returned the $70,000 she found while working trended online.
Kekwaaru, who works as a cleaner at Eko Hotel and Suites, came across the misplaced money at her workplace. She, however, chose to be a rare example of honesty and uprightness by choosing to return it to the rightful owner.
This display of integrity had the internet buzzing as people were surprised at her forthrightness.
Her noble act caught the eye of Davido, who is a well-known philanthropist, and he promised to reward her with a whopping $10,000 gift.
Christmas came as early as July for Kekwaaru as she was seen in a video flaunting her cash prize which has been delivered to her.
In the video, Kekwaaru can be seen thanking and appreciating Davido for fulfilling his promise.
She said, “Thank you so much Davido. I got the money. It’s rare”.
Someone close by chipped in, “Did you count and confirm the money?”. She replied “Yes, hundred…sorry, ten thousand dollars”.
She also went on to rain prayers on the afrobeat artiste, wishing him more height and mileage in his career.
