The Ministry of Primary Education in Delta State has ordered the immediate closure of Great Leaders International School, Ime-Obi, located in Agbor, Ika Local Government Area of the state.
This decision comes in the wake of severe allegations of child defilement involving the school’s proprietor, Innocent Ezeukwu.
Mr. Augustine Oghoro, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, expressed deep concerns about the alleged heinous act, describing it as “wicked and barbaric.” He questioned how a teacher, entrusted with the well-being and education of young learners, could engage in such a deplorable act.
Furthermore, the State Police Command has swiftly taken action, apprehending the suspect, Innocent Ezeukwu, the school’s proprietor.
The statement from the ministry clarified that Great Leaders International School was already on the list of unauthorised schools that had previously been shut down by the State Primary Education Ministry.
In a related matter, the State Government has issued a stern warning to parents, urging them to refrain from resorting to violence when addressing concerns about their children’s discipline at school.
This warning followed a recent incident in a public secondary school in Agbor where a teacher tragically lost his life after being assaulted by a parent over the discipline of their unruly child.
