The Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association (COMTOA) has been officially authorized by the Delta State Government to organize, coordinate, and supervise the activities of all commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators across the state.
According to a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, COMTOA will initiate the management and collection of levies from motorcycle and tricycle riders starting Monday, 8th January 2024.
Emphasizing the scope of authority, the statement outlines that COMTOA is now empowered to ensure compliance with the designated Delta state color scheme for tricycles. Furthermore, the association has been tasked with apprehending violators of the ban on motorcycle operators in restricted areas, including Asaba, Effurun, and Warri.
In a bid to regulate operations, motorcycle and tricycle riders are mandated to strictly adhere to specified operating hours: 6 am to 8 pm daily for motorcycles in unrestricted areas and 6 am to 10 pm for tricycle riders.
