Bankole Olowookere, coach of Nigeria’s Under-17 female football team, has assured Nigerians of victory against Burkina Faso in the first leg match qualifiers of the 2024 FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup.
Olowookere told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja that the team`s target is to qualify for the world cup.
“We are assuming Nigerians that we are going to win the first leg match in Mali. The team is well prepared for the two games (first and return match).
“We will come back home and win the return match; we are determined to feature at the world cup.
NAN reports that the world football governing body insisted that the Burkinabes cannot play in Ouagadougou due to the poor state of their home pitch.
The decision has seen the Burkinabes opt for the Malian capital, Bamako, where they will host the Flamingos on May 11 from 4 pm Mali time, 5pm Nigeria time.
The return leg will come up at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on May 18 from 4.30 pm Nigeria time.
The Flamingos’ delegation to Bamako will leave Abuja on Wednesday for Bamako for the encounter.
NAN reports that the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 will take place in the Dominican Republic from Oct. 16 to Nov.3. (NAN)
