One person died while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in an accident at the Saapade Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson of Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, confirmed the Saturday incident involving a Mazda vehicle in a statement.
She said the accident occurred around 2.58pm, adding that it involved a white Mazda Bus with Lagos number plate GGE 858 XY.
Okpe added that the accident was caused by excessive speed, tyre burst and loss of control.
She said, “A total number of 17 people were involved, comprising eight men, seven women and two children.
“Unfortunately, one woman died, while 10 people – two men, six women and two children – sustained injuries.”
Okpe explained further that the injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital in Ogere for medical attention, while the deceased was deposited at the FOS Morgue in Ipara.
