An accident occurred on Ifako Bridge, Lagos, involving an unregistered commercial Mazda bus and a Korope mini-bus.
According to LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, preliminary investigations revealed that the Mazda bus driver was distracted by eating while driving, lost control, and experienced brake failure.
Bakare-Oki stated: “I strongly urge all motorists, particularly commercial bus operators, to prioritize road safety and remain vigilant to avoid dangerous driving practices.”
Five injured individuals were rescued and transported to the Accident and Emergency Centre.
In a separate incident, an Acura SUV collided with two cows at Iyana-Oworo, resulting in the animals’ death and vehicle damage.
