A major incident has been declared by the London Fire Brigade after a fire engulfed a building in east London.
According to BBC, two people have been taken to hospital and more than 100 residents evacuated in the early Monday morning fire incident.
“The whole of the building has been affected by the fire,” BBC quotes a LFB official as saying; adding, “with firefighters arriving on the scene within five minutes of the first call at 02:44.”
The global media outfit reports that work had been under way to remove non-compliant cladding on the flats; with the fire brigade saying the building had a “number of fire safety issues” known to officials.
More than 200 firefighters are at the scene in Dagenham, though the cause of the fire is not yet known, BBC said.
