Empowering women necessary for national development –First Lady

Fist Lady Oluremi Tinubu has emphasized the pivotal role of empowering women in the country, saying it is not merely a matter of social justice but a catalyst for national development.

She made the declaration today at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja during which she was decorated as the Grand Patron of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria.

Having previously served as a state patron from 1999 to 2007 during her husband’s tenure as the governor of Lagos State, the First Lady expressed her familiarity with the NCWS and its dedication to advocating for systemic changes affecting women in Nigeria.

She highlighted the organization’s role in fostering unity, promoting equality and amplifying the voices of women across all sections of society.

“The NCWS is not new to me. I identify with you in fostering unity, promoting equality and amplifying the voices of women across every sector of our society, including creating a more inclusive and equitable nation,” stated the First Lady.
