Enugu Govt partners L-PRES on livestock farming, meat production

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has expressed his administration’s willingness to partner with genuine investors in the livestock sector to boost meat production for local consumption and export.

He made this statement while receiving delegates from the Livestock Production and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in his office.

Governor Mbah assured the delegation of his administration’s support for the project, citing the allocation of a suitable location for a veterinary hospital.

He highlighted his administration’s efforts to enhance the livestock value chain through policies and legal frameworks, including the Public Ranch Management Agency law, aimed at facilitating meat processing, packaging, and export.

The governor emphasized the state’s potential for increased meat production and expressed enthusiasm for collaboration with L-PRES to achieve this goal.

Dr Mbah who thanked L-PRES for the provision of vaccines for livestock farmers, reiterated that Enugu is safe and secure for business, tourism and hospitality, saying it was his administration’s desire to make the state a premier destination.

Earlier, the L-PRES National Project Coordinator, Sanusi Abubakar while commending the governor for his assistance for the success of the project, said the visit was also to see how the project can partner the state government on the ranching business.

Abubakar further expressed the readiness of the L-PRES to support the state government’s policies and programmes on animal husbandry.
