Ex-CBN Gov Emefiele forfeits $2.045m, landed property

Seven choice landed properties, a sum of $2.045m, and share certificates linked to the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele have been forfeited.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos ordered the final forfeiture in a ruling delivered on Friday.

The presiding judge, Deinde Dipeolu ordered the permanent forfeiture of the monies and the two share certificates of Queensdorf Global Fund Limited Trust, after holding that the former CBN governor or any other interested party did not contest same after the initial interim forfeiture.

The judge held that Emefiele was not able to connect his lawful earnings as a staff of a new generation bank and the CBN to the acquisition of the properties.

The court also forfeited the seven choice landed properties on the ground that Emefiele,was not able to connect his lawful earnings from a bank and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the acquisition of the properties.
