Excitement has greeted the début of the long-awaited epic Yoruba film, ‘Jagun Jagun’ on the subscription video on-demand streaming giant, Netflix.
The action-adventure movie produced by popular Yoruba Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, and co-directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani, chronicles the story of ancient warriors and kings, with a cruel warlord who feels threatened by an unrelenting young warrior that wants only power and the love.
It features Nollywood stars such as Ibrahim Lateef Adedimeji, Debo Adebayo, Yekini Itele, Fathia Williams, Bukunmi, Oluwashina, Muyiwa Ademola, Odunlade Adekola, Adebayo Salami, and Yinka Quadri, among others.
The private viewing of the new movie which held at Lekki in Lagos on Wednesday had Yoruba stars and colleagues in the movie industry in attendance. It was a moment of celebration.
The appearance of some actors in Yoruba warrior costumes added glamour to the event.
Videos that emerged from the event showed artists like Dele Odule, Mr. Macrioni, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Odunlade Adekola, Oga Bello, Fatiha Balogun, Muiwa Ademola, Desola Afod, Gbenga Adeyinka, Kemi Afolabi, Dayo Amusa, and Sotayo Gaga among others.
In a trending video, Adedimeji who was cast in the movie explained how he broke his leg during the movie shoot while he bowed in respect to his senior colleague, Femi Adebayo; thanking him his constant encouragement.
“I shot the movie in pain as I broke my leg and almost gave up, but his constant encouragement at the movie location kept me going,” Dimeji said.
Netizens have however continued to drop their comments and reviews on the uniqueness of the movie on social media.
@bossolamilekan1: This jagun jagun movie by Femi Adebayo is realy a good movie to learn from. One of the main lesson in this movie is that if you are working with a boss and he sees you as a competition, I think the best is to leave. Another main lesson is that don’t trust man.
