The Federal Government has issued a travel advisory for citizens planning to visit the United Kingdom, citing concerns over the recent escalation of violence in the country.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed by Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, the government warned of reported attacks on law enforcement agents and infrastructure damage.

The advisory cautions Nigerians in the UK to exercise vigilance and awareness, and advises them to avoid areas with political processions, protests, rallies, or large gatherings, as well as crowded areas.

The government’s advisory aims to ensure the safety and well-being of Nigerian citizens traveling to or residing in the UK.

The alert reads in part: “There is an increased risk of violence and disorder occasioned by the recent riots in the UK, stemming from the killing of 3 young girls at a concert. The violence has assumed dangerous proportions as evidenced by reported attacks on Law enforcement agents and damage to infrastructure.

Giving background of the situation, the Nigerian government stated that demonstrations by far right and other extra-parliamentary groups in parts of the UK in recent weeks have been large, and in some instances unruly.
