Chief Frank Kokori, a former General Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has reached out from his hospital bed with a distressing call.
Painting a vivid picture of his battle against a severe kidney-related ailment, he said his life was slipping away.
Kokori, who is a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Delta State, in a voice laden with excruciating pain described himself as “dead and rises”, underscoring the gravity of his current health condition.
Amidst his personal turmoil, he expressed dismay at what he described as abandonment by NUPENG, the very union to which he said he had dedicated his life in service, making his poignant words shed light on the challenging circumstances at the hospital, where even the basic comfort of air conditioning was reportedly denied him, possibly die to a shortage of diesel.
He voiced his dissatisfaction at being left in what he termed a “third-class” hospital in Warri, raising questions about the care and attention he deserves at this critical moment of his life, as he desperately cries out: “Tell the world that Kokori is dead and risen,” adding that the only man who can handle kidney problems is Horeb Hospital, Warri.”
He adds that his plea becomes a poignant call for immediate attention, support and intervention, to highlight the urgency of the gravity of his unfolding situation as one who had served his nation as a seasoned labour leader.
