The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has pledged to work tirelessly to reinforce security measures, swift responses to threats, and prevent recurrence of terrorists acts in the region.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the NSF, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua (APC-Katsina) in Abuja on Monday while reacting to the recent bombing in Gwoza, Borno State, which left no fewer than six people killed and 15 others injured in a suicide attack
Yar’Adua who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army said that the forum shared in the profound sorrow and anguish that had befallen the community of Gwoza following the devastating events of June 29.
“We salute the unwavering courage and dedication of the medical teams, rescue workers, and the Nigerian Army who have responded with valour and selflessness in the face of adversity.
“Your commitment to preserving lives in the midst of turmoil exemplifies the true spirit of service and sacrifice.
“As representatives of the Northern Senators Forum, we stand in solidarity with you, unwavering in our commitment to seeking justice and holding accountable those responsible for these vile acts.
“We pledge to work tirelessly to reinforce security measures, ensure swift responses to threats, and prevent the recurrence of such atrocities,” he said.
He said that the Forum adamantly declared that the scourge of Boko Haram and all forms of terrorism would find no haven in the region.
“Together, we will confront these forces of darkness with determination and unity, safeguarding our communities and upholding the sanctity of peace and security for all.
“We stand united in condemning the cowardly deeds of those who seek to spread fear and chaos among our peaceful communities,” he added.
He noted that the loss of innocent lives and the suffering inflicted upon families in Gwoza had deeply wounded all.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have been bereaved and the individuals fighting for their lives in the aftermath of this senseless tragedy.
“May the departed souls find eternal peace and may the wounded find comfort and healing in the compassion and support extended to them during this sorrowful period,” Yar’ Adua said.(NAN)
