Happie boys became famous after they were sacked last year for dancing at a restaurant they worked for when they were in Nigeria. Trouble started after a video clip where they were dancing to a Hip Hop song, while on duty, surfaced online.
The General Overseer of the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) in Rivers State, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, saw the video of the two boys online asking for help after they were sacked from work and promised to sponsor their education abroad. He later flew them to Cyprus to study, an action that got him accolades from the people.
Months after resuming school in Cyprus, Happie Boys cried online that life wasn’t easy for them over there, considering the fact that they hailed from humble homes.
In an Instagram post, they disclosed that they were only put in school for six months before being forced to drop out due to lack of funds.
The relationship between the clergy and the lads turned sour, after they leaked their chat with Apostle Chibuzor where they requested money from him several times and he said he was broke and on other occasions ignored their messages.
Embarrassed by the action of the boys, Apostle Chibuzor in an audio expressed displeasure over their attitude; explaining that the money used to sponsor them to Cyprus was gotten from church members’ tithes and offerings; however, the boys have decided to pay him back with evil.
In annoyance, he allegedly placed curses on them, saying “You will remain poor forever, you will never achieve anything in life, irrespective of where you are, you will suffer poverty if there are clothes I bought for you, you will sell those clothes to feed, you will become so wretched.”
Audio of the curses however generated mixed reactions as some persons criticised the clergy for laying curses on children he could father while they condemned the Happie Boys for exposing the pastor to ridicule; described them as being ungrateful.
Below are some of the reactions to news of Happie Boys being remanded in prison.
