The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a woman known as Patience Solomon for allegedly stealing her neighbour’s 10-month-old baby and running away with her to Lagos.
Solomon was paraded alongside 27 suspected criminals for committing various offences including a woman suspected of stealing a 10-month-old baby in the state.
While parading the suspects, the commissioner of police, Julius Okoro, said the stolen 10-month-old baby was recovered from the woman and handed over to her mother.
The mother of the stolen baby, Annabel Geoffrey, told journalists how the baby was taken from her.
She said, “I didn’t know she was going with my baby because we live in the same flat. She told me she was going to the market with my baby. After a while, I called her number but it was not connecting and a day after, she called to tell me that she had travelled to Lagos with my baby.’’
However, Solomon, denied stealing the baby, explaining that she went with the baby out of love and not with any bad intention, regretting that she travelled with the baby.
The state Commissioner of Police, Okoro Julius, who paraded the suspects at the headquarters of the command in Jos, said efforts were on to get rid of criminals in the state.
The suspects were accused of kidnapping, robbery and stealing armoured wires from transformers in various communities of the state.
