Kaduna, Google partner to train 5,000 women tech skills

In a move to advance tech inclusivity, the Kaduna State Government in partnership with tech giant, Google, has introduced a pioneering initiative to empower 5,000 women and girls in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurial application of digital technologies.

With the support of Google, this initiative is part of a broader skills development program aimed at equipping 20,000 women and young individuals across Nigeria with 21st-century skills, opening doors to opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital and creative industries.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani expressed that Tech inclusivity goes beyond addressing social equity; it’s about economic advancement.

He expressed that by empowering women with digital proficiencies, they are not only dismantling gender barriers but also creating a foundation for substantial economic growth.

“Our collaboration with Google underscores our commitment to harnessing the immense potential of our women for the socio-economic transformation in Kaduna State and across Nigeria,” Sani said.

Google Director for West Africa, Olumide Balogun emphasized the significance of this collaboration. “The future of tech in Nigeria hinges on harnessing the potential of every individual, transcending gender boundaries. Our partnership with the Kaduna State Government is a testament to our unwavering belief in the transformative power of women in tech.

“With the backing of Google.org, we are dedicated to fostering a more inclusive digital landscape, ensuring every trained woman becomes a beacon of change in the tech world.”
