The Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has resigned his appointment.
The cleric tendered his resignation via his Facebook page on Friday [today].
The timing of the resignation raises speculation, especially considering Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s recent expressions of dissatisfaction with the Hisbah Board’s approach to arresting suspects.
The Hisbah Board has been in the eye of the storm in recent times over the arrest and trial of a controversial female TikToker in the state, Murja Ibrahim-Kunya.
The commander, known for his efforts in upholding morality, particularly among TikTokers, expressed frustration at the challenges faced in fulfilling this responsibility.
The resignation statement, posted on Friday morning from Kaduna, coincided with Sheikh Daurawa’s participation in a retreat organized by the Kano State House of Assembly.
The retreat focused on the crafting of a law mandating medical check-ups for couples before marriage.
Sheikh Daurawa apologised to Governor Yusuf for the sudden nature of his departure, emphasizing his dedication to the role.
