Kidnappers storm Abuja estate, abduct two persons

Kidnappers on Thursday night invaded the Nigeria Post Army Estate Phase II in the Kurudu area of Abuja, abducting a woman and another resident.

The victims include the wife and one of the in-laws of one Barrister Cyril Adikwu.
According to the residents of the Estate, the incident occurred around 10:00 pm.

One of the residents of the estate, a neighbor to the victims, Austine John, recounted the harrowing experience, stating that the kidnappers entered the estate, shooting threateningly, and abducted the two, while Adikwu managed to escape.

John recounted the harrowing incidents, emphasizing the prevailing fear among residents throughout the night.

He highlighted the security measures the estate’s management implemented and the subsequent deployment of army personnel.

John narrated, “It all started at about 10:00 pm. We suddenly started hearing gunshots, and immediately we knew something was wrong. I quickly went out to make sure my gate was well locked.

“Then we heard the gunshot in the barrister’s house, and then we alerted the estate’s management, who immediately swung into action. In a short time, soldiers came around and started shooting too, but before they came, the kidnappers had taken the wife and one of the in-laws of the barrister.”

He added, “This is traumatising because we could not sleep throughout the night due to fear of the kidnappers coming back. President Tinubu should please help Nigerians put an end to this barbaric act by the kidnappers.”

This kidnap is coming barely four days after a young lady identified as Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar  was killed by her abductors.

Nabeeha, a fourth-year student studying biological science at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was abducted on January 9, 2024, alongside five other sisters and their father in Abuja.

The assailants eventually released their father, instructing him to procure N60 million as ransom for the release of his daughters before Friday, January 12.

To raise the required funds, Nigerians were encouraged to contribute to a bank account. However, by Friday, the amount donated fell short of the target.

As a result, the criminals allegedly killed one of the six girls, Nabeeha, and left her body in a location for her parents to pick up.
