Lagos begins fresh demolition of illegal structures near railway lines

The Lagos State Task Force has commenced the demolition of illegal structures near its railway lines along Iju-Ishaga, Fagba railway corridors inwards Agege part of the state.

The exercise is part of the state government’s activities to restore sanity along the railway corridors of the state.

The Lagos State Government had promised to intensify efforts to rid some areas in the state of illegal structures and shanties.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said this is in furtherance to the directives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The demolition of shanties on the setbacks and rights of way of Lagos Blue Rail and Red line corridor will be a continuous exercise, he said.
