Lazy walkers can revamp morning routine with Vit C –Study

For those dreading early morning walk, a new study offers a refreshing hope, as researchers suggest that daily Vitamin C supplements could offer cardiovascular benefits on a par with regular exercise, particularly for overweight and obese adults.

The investigation, conducted at the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA, focused on the impact of Vitamin C supplementation on the activity of endothelin (ET)-1, a protein known to constrict small blood vessels, a common concern in overweight and obese individuals.

Experts say constricted vessels are less responsive to blood flow demand, elevating the risk of cardiovascular illnesses.

While exercise has been a known remedy for reducing ET-1 activity, committing to a daily exercise regimen can be a challenge for many. Remarkably, the study demonstrated that a daily intake of 500mg of Vitamin C effectively lowered ET-1-related vessel constriction, akin to the benefits derived from a daily morning walk.

These findings also spotlight the potential of Vitamin C supplementation as a convenient and effective lifestyle strategy to mitigate vessel constriction in most adults with large body mass.

The study’s outcome were unveiled at the 144th International Conference on Endothelin: Physiology, Pathophysiology and Therapeutics in Savanah, Georgia, USA.
