The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 21-year-old man, Mustapha Abubakar, in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja, for allegedly stabbing neighbour with a pair of scissors.
The defendant, who resides at Kugbo International Market, Abuja, is being tried for criminal force without provocation and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means.
He has denied the allegation.
The prosecution counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the complainant, Mr. Paul Yusuf of Kugbo International Market, reported the matter at the Karu Police station on March 14.
The complainant alleged that on March 13, while he was with his colleague at the above mentioned address, an argument ensued, during which the defendant brought out a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the stomach, before he was rushed to the Asokoro General Hospital, Abuja.
Adeyanju further told the court that the complainant was treated and later discharged, with the hospital bill yet to be estimated.
The offence, he said, contravenes sections 265 and 248 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Aliyu Alhassan, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1m with three sureties in like sums and adjourned the case until May 20 for hearing. (NAN)
