Man in court for allegedly stealing N4.2m

A 25-year-old man, Victor Ugo, was on Monday arraigned before an Asaba Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of N4,203,500

The defendant, whose address was not provided, was charged for allegedly stealing the money, property of GK Apartments Ltd., Asaba, through his FCMB account number: 4910944617, with the name Patience Nwanfufe.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The Prosecutor, Mrs. Susan John, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 12 on Anwai road, near Ibori Golf Club area.

John said that the offence contravened Sections 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C21, Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.

Anumodu said that both sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be related to the defendant.

She said that the sureties must also provide two passport photographs each, electricity bills and means of identification.

The magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the case till Oct. 29 for definite hearing. (NAN)
