The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Michael Akinmolayan, for allegedly raping a female neighbor in Sango-Ota area of the state.
The spokesperson of the state command, Omolola Odutola, revealed in a statement that the victim’s brother, Ogundimu, who resides in Mushin, Lagos State, reported the crime.
She said officers from the Sango-Ota Division quickly responded to the scene after receiving a report and taking Akinmolayan into custody.
Odutola also stated that Akinmolayan allegedly hit the survivor on the crown of her head with a grinding stone, causing serious injuries, and she was immediately taken to hospital for medical attention.
The statement reads, “On November 28, the survivor’s brother, Ogundimu, who lives in Mushin, Lagos State, reported the crime. Neighbors in Sango-Ota told him that his sister had been seriously injured by Akinmolayan.
“The survivor suffered head injuries during the assault. Detectives visited the scene, took photographs and took the survivor to Banuso Clinic, Ota, for medical treatment.
“Evidence, including blood-stained clothing and the grindstone allegedly used in the attack, was recovered. A preliminary investigation is underway.”
