Monetize your gifts for my birthday, OPM pastor declares

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere of Omega Power Ministries (OPM) has made an announcement ahead of his birthday celebration on October 22, appealing to his members and followers to not buy birthday gifts but convert their gifts to cash.

Pastor Chibuzor made the announcement on his Facebook page, emphasizing the critical issues facing Nigeria and the dire need for assistance.

He presented what he described as very disturbing data from UNESCO: there are about 20 million out-of- school children in Nigeria; while the World Health Organisation (WHO) has ranked Nigeria as the second country with the highest number of maternal deaths.

“The report highlights that more women died in Nigeria from pregnancy-related issues than in India or any other country. So that is one of the reasons I don’t need gifts now. Given the pressing challenges in the country, there is a greater need for support in the form of resources rather than birthday gifts,” he said.

He questioned the practicality of receiving gifts when millions of children are deprived of education and countless women are losing their lives due to pregnancy-related complications.

“What will I do with the gifts when million are out of school and millions of women are dying through pregnancy related issues? I really need to open more free hospitals to save this lives and open more free schools to save these out of school children.

“Twenty-nine OPM free schools are not enough to save these suffering children and two free specialist hospitals are also not enough to save these women that die daily of pregnancy-related issues.

“Am not interested of my own enjoyment, by the grace of God Almighty, I am more interested in rescuing the less privileged. Please convert your gifts to cash,” Pastor Chibuzor insisted.

Meanwhile, the cleric has announced Miss Rachael as winner of the just concluded 2023 cooking competition.

Having won the competition, Pastor Chibuzor said that she would be given a complete furnished restaurant and a cash prize of N500,000 to start business.
