The founder of Hypertension Africa, a health coaching company for hypertensives, Pharmacist Chibuamam Ilechukwu, has offered three tips for naturally lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
According to Ilechukwu, high blood pressure, also known as hypertension; and high cholesterol level, are the two most dangerous combinations a person can have.
The American Heart Association defines high blood pressure as when your blood pressure, that is, the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your blood vessels, is consistently too high.
High cholesterol, according to Cleveland Clinic, is a condition whereby you have too many lipids (fats) in your blood. It is also called hyperlipidemia or hypercholesterolemia.
Experts note that your body needs just the right amount of fats to function, but if you have too much lipids, your body can’t use them all. As such, the extra lipids start to build up in your arteries and they combine with other substances in your blood to form plaque, that is, fatty deposits.
Pharmacist Ilechukwu on her Facebook page explained that cholesterol comes through what you eat that goes through your mouth and that if you are going to cut down on your cholesterol level, you have to cut it down through your mouth.
To naturally cut down on these two health conditions, she advised sufferers to cut off all red meat, if possible all meat; cut off all fried foods like dodo (fried plantain), buns, chin-chin, and plantain chips, among others.
Thirdly, switch your cooking oil to olive oil, which, according to her, is the world’s number one purest and healthiest oil.
She encouraged them to at least stop the cholesterol level from increasing and blocking the blood vessels.
“Blood Pressure and cholesterol control is about your lifestyle,” she stressed.
