Nigerians in mock apology to UTME candidate Mmesoma after Supreme Court validates Tinubu’s election

Nigerians on X [formerly Twitter] have responded to the Supreme Court verdict validating the election of Bola Tinubu as President.

Earlier on Thursday [today], the Supreme Court had affirmed the decision of the presidential election petitions tribunal on Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi’s matter.

The apex court affirmed that other panel members agreed with the lead judgment delivered by John Okoro, dismissing Atiku Abubakar’s appeal, which had challenged the judgment of the presidential petition tribunal.

They also agreed with Okoro to reject the application of Atiku, seeking to present Tinubu’s credentials obtained from the Chicago State University.

The other justices on the panel were Uwani Aji, Mohammed Garba, Ibrahim Saulawa, Adamu Jauro, Abubakar Tijjani, and Emmanuel Agim.

Immediately after the verdict, Nigerians had taken to X to apologise to Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma, a 19-year-old UTME candidate who had falsified her result, parading herself as the highest scorer in the 2023 UTME, an event that rocked the nation and divided Nigerians until Mmesoma confessed to her shenanigans.

Here are some of the mock apologies to the beleaguered teenager:

Darey @kunmydrey: I tender my unreserved APOLOGY to Miss Mmesoma. According to the CONSTITUTION of Nigeria, Forgery is not ILLEGAL.

NEFERTITI LITE @FirstObidient: Miss Mmesoma, I am very sorry for whatever I said against you concerning your JAMB result that was said to be forged. 🙏🏾 According to the SUPREME COURT OF NIGERIA, FORGERY is not ILLEGAL.

Odogwu Anioma @jidifeanyi: After today’s court judgement, according to Justice Okoro Nigerians have to tender an unreserved apology to Mmesoma for accusing her wrongly of forging her Jamb score. My fellow citizens, you can go & forge anything. Mmesoma I’m sorry.

Ajiji 🌎 MIT @Chief_Ajiji: Nigerians need to apologize to Mmesoma. Forgery is not a crime in Nigeria as affirmed by Supreme Court over Tinubu’s case.

The trend seemed to have been triggered by a tweet by Katchie Postman via his X handle @Kattchiie. Hours before the sitting, he had tweeted: If the Supreme Court Justices don’t disqualify & dismiss Tinubu 4rm Aso Rock today – even possibly jail him – then this Mmesoma Ejikeme should sue Jamb & Nigeria! And push the law suit all the way to the Supreme Court cos she must receive whatever judgement Tinubu receives today!
