In response to emerging reports on certificate racketeering in some foreign educational institutions, the management of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has vehemently refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting the possibility of obtaining a legitimate LASU certificate within a six-week time frame.
The revelation came to light as LASU’s Coordinator for the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Oluwayemi Thomas-Onashile, addressed the public regarding a sponsored post of Facebook promoting the acquisition of a ‘legit LASU Certificate in six weeks.’
The post listed a contact person, whose identity is currently withheld, as the purported facilitator of this dubious activity.
Thomas-Onashile, in an official statement, emphasized that LASU is not associated with the said post or the individual mentioned, stressing that the public should be wary of falling victim to fraudulent schemes. She categorically stated: “It is IMPOSSIBLE to acquire a ‘legit’ certificate from LASU in six weeks, ” cautioning that any attempts to do so would be considered criminal and futile.
Furthermore, the university management has taken swift action by involving intelligence and law enforcement agencies to investigate and track down those responsible for the deceptive post, stressing that this move underscores LASU’s commitment to maintaining its esteemed reputation and ensuring the integrity of its academic credentials.
The public is urged to exercise caution and verify information through official channels to avoid being misled by fraudulent claims, as LASU takes decisive steps to curb the spread of misinformation and protect the credibility of its certification process.
